Hazardous Materials

The mission of the South Carolina Hazardous Materials Working Group is to aid the hazmat emergency response community in South Carolina by providing an information collection and distribution resource.

We will accomplish this through regular meetings of the membership, communicating beneficial information through electronic and written communications and serving as a hazmat information and planning resource to the S.C. Firefighter Mobilization Committee.

Additionally, where the implementation of a hazmat response capability may be incomplete, the HMWG will seek to identify solutions that reduce the risk to the citizens and environment of South Carolina.

Resources available through S.C. Firefighter Mobilization for Mass Decontamination:

Four (4) Advanced Mass Decontamination Trailers
- Located in Greenville, Richland, Horry, and Charleston Counties

Forty-Two (42) Basic Mass Decontamination Tents
- Located in all other counties that do not have an advanced unit
